Student Emergency Assistance Grant

Program Overview 

The Student Emergency Assistance Grant provides emergency grant funds intended to help students address sudden, short-term financial emergencies that might affect their ability to succeed in classes. Any enrolled student at WVC can request assistance from SEAG.

SEAG funds are meant to be low-barrier to allow quick resolution of immediate needs. This grant is designed for emergency relief of a short-term financial hardship and is not intended to cover ongoing or recurring expenses.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for support from this grant, you must be an enrolled student at WVC and experiencing a financial emergency that is affecting your ability to be successful in your classes. 

What SEAG can help with:

  • Assistance with overdue rent or utilities due to a situation outside of your control
  • Books or required class supplies
  • Technology needed for your classes
  • Childcare-related expenses
  • Outstanding fees or fines (excluding tuition and course fees)
  • Medical, dental, or vision emergency expenses not covered by insurance
  • Emergency car repairs or transportation assistance
  • Food assistance

What SEAG cannot help with:

  • Ongoing monthly expenses (rent, bills, etc.)
  • Tuition
  • Most course fees (exceptions apply for Running Start)
  • Consumer debt, student loans, credit cards, car loans
  • Legal fees, fines, or child support
